EOU turned off the lights of the Northwest Christian Beacons while sweeping both ends of a double-header played at Peggy Anderson Field on Saturday. The EOU softball ladies won the first game by a score of 6-1. Sarah Jackson led the offense with three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Cassie Wendt and Katie Martell each had two hits and contributed an RBI apiece.
Gracie Flyg , Stephanie Maestretti and Alex Hillmick each contributed a RBI to the cause.
Alex Hillmick was winning pitcher with three strikeouts.
EOU won the second game 9-4. EOU started the first inning with two runs after Cassie Wendt smashed one over the left field fence with Mariebeth Watanabe on board. The Beacons matched these with two runs of their own in the top of the second inning.
From there on it was all EOU although the Beacons staged a minor rally of two runs in the top of the sixth inning.
The EOU bat squad was led by Watanabe with three hits, including a double, and a RBI. Wendt contributed two hits and two RBIs. Each scored two runs.
Katie Martell had three hits with a run scored while Hillmick hit a two-bagger and had three RBIs. Georgianna Kelly and Gracie Flyg each contributed a hit and RBI.
Kayla Anderson was winning pitcher with four strikeouts.
