The Coffee Lounge is back with a new name and a new location after a long hiatus because of the recent library reconstruction. It is now located on the third floor of Pierce Library.
The Coffee Lounge re-opened in late November of 2012. “It’s been kind of slow, ‘cause no one knows we’re up here.” said Mariah Strobeck, a student employee for the Coffee Lounge.
It is true; very few people know where the Coffee Lounge is located or that there is a Coffee Lounge.
Manager Chrystine Brown, however, is proud of the Coffee Lounge’s progress. “Even though it’s slower than anticipated, the word is spreading and our numbers are better than what they were on the first floor as a cart.” Brown said.
The Lounge is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to noon. They are hoping to extend their hours by fall term. “We’ve tried having extended hours when we were a coffee cart but didn’t get the support needed to justify the extended hours.” Brown said.
The coffee Lounge serves a variety of coffee blends, the most popular being lattes. The Coffee Lounge also serves cinnamon rolls, bagel dogs and pretzel melts.
EOU students and staff can expect a Coffee Lounge Grand Opening Feb. 14.
