KANSAS CITY, MO – Sparked by an outstanding team performance at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships this past weekend, the EOU women vaulted into the No. 11 spot in the final regular season NAIA Cross Country Coaches Top 25 Poll.
The Eastern women finished second behind No. 3 College of Idaho on Saturday and moved from No. 22 all the way to the top 15. It is the highest the Mountaineer ladies have been all season.
The College of Idaho remained No.3 this week with CCC rival Northwest Christian dropping to No. 15 after their third place finish at the conference meet. Northwest gives the CCC four teams in the top 25, with their No. 25 spot. Concordia and Southern Oregon each received votes.
On the men’s side, Eastern fell dramatically after their fourth place finish in the conference meet. The Mounties are No. 22 in the final poll.
Southern Oregon remains No. 1, with the College of Idaho No. 11, Concordia No. 14. Oregon Tech received votes.
The College of Idaho and Southern Oregon will advance to the NAIA National Cross Country Championships on November 17 in Fort Vancouver, Washington based on winning the conference titles.
Concordia’s men and women will all compete, receiving the host bid. Eastern Oregon, Northwest Christian, and the College of Idaho men and Northwest women must wait until Monday afternoon to learn of their possible at-large berths into the meet.
